Connect to UW-restricted Resources from Off-Campus

Most of the databases, electronic journals and e-books available through the Libraries are restricted to UW faculty, students and staff. If you connect to the Internet via an Internet Service Provider (such as Earthlink or Comcast), you will need to use the UW Libraries Proxy server.

To start a session with the new proxy, click on the "off-campus access (log in)" button in the upper right corner of most pages on the website (both UW Libraries and Health Sciences/Healthlinks) or visit http://offcampus.lib.washington.edu/. This proxy requires that you always start a session to gain access to restricted resources. You must login to the proxy server with your UW NetID (Cascadia Community College users go here) and your browser should have cookies enabled.

Note that the "Off-Campus Access" button now says "off-campus access (logged in)" and the address shown in your browser address bar includes "offcampus.lib"

newAnother solution, which is more flexible, is to use our proxy bookmarklet. Once the bookmarklet is installed, you do your research and at some point will arrive (unauthenticated) at the content provider's site. Then hit the bookmarklet and it takes you back to that same page, but through the proxy server. More information on our bookmarklet is available at http://www.lib.washington.edu/help/proxyTools.html

Hints for using the proxy:

More information about this proxy, including help, can be found at http://www.lib.washington.edu/help/ezhelp.html.

If you were using the old proxy server and want to remove those browser settings, simply follow our directions to reconfigure your browser.

If you have a URL and want to proxy it, enter the URL below:
