Laptop Internet Ports

The Foster Business Library provides access to the Internet and campus network via the Laptop Internet Ports available on most study desks and tables in the library, as well as in the group study rooms. To connect your laptop to the ports, you will need an Ethernet card, an Ethernet cable, and a current UW NetID. (In most cases this will be the same as your login name on Dante or Homer.) You may also need to reconfigure your computer.

Please contact us if you have questions about the laptop Internet ports or any other services offered by the Foster Business Library.

More recently the Business School has moved to a wireless network, so if you have a wireless card, your laptop can connect to the Internet from anywhere in the library, the SEEC building and Balmer Hall. Using 802.11b technology, you can get an 11Mb/second connection to the Internet without a wired connection to your computer. This performance is on the same order as shared ethernet.
For documentation on using the wireless netowrk, please read Using the Wireless Network at the UW.
