August 2006 News
Libraries ITS has updated all of the Libraries public computers, so they should all be able to print, and the printer name has been changed from 'Balmer Copy Center' to 'Foster Business Library.' Because of this process, PC #19's CD-ROM databases (Morningstar, Simmons, Mediamark, and Datastream) are not currently available and PC #20, the Bloomberg terminal, is unable to print. Both problems are being worked on.
Library users can now print from the public computers in the library — but only the tan computers, not the black ones.
The Foster Business Library homepage has been revised to include a new database under Journals, News, and Magazines: EBSCO Business Source Premier. This very rich database includes full text for over 8,800 magazines, newspapers and journals, including more than 1,100 peer-reviewed journals (among them, the Harvard Business Review). This database also includes some market research reports, SWOT analyses, and country reports.
Printing from laptops in the library, to the self-service printers, is working. Printing from the library's public computers is still down today at Foster but library computing hopes to have printing restored soon. In the meantime, print jobs from public computers in the library may be sent to and picked up at the Drama Library, the Engineering Library, or the Odegaard Undergraduate Library.
The library as well as the Bank of America Executive Education Center have been suffering this summer from air conditioning problems, particularly on hotter days. Three new replacement chillers will be lifted by crane onto the roof of Balmer Hall, to join three working chillers, next week, to solve this problem.
