Foster Business Library

Old and New FAQ Sites

At the beginning of autumn quarter 2006, the Foster Business Library's old FAQ site, with over one hundred frequently-asked questions, was archived. It is still available (but no longer updated) at:

Replacing the old FAQ is a new and vastly-expanded Business & Economics FAQ service (with over seven hundred frequently-asked questions and growing), now available at:

Here is the news announcement, sent out to the Business School community September 27, 2006, by Foster Business Library head, Gordon Aamot (as well as an announcement in the Libraries' Weekly Online News, September 18, 2006):

Several years ago, business librarians and IT staff at the University of Pennsylvania developed a searchable "Frequently Asked Questions" database for common business queries. It was a very successful project and they offerred to share their work with other major academic business libraries. This summer, Foster staff worked with librarians at Penn to adapt a version of the database for UW users. You can search by keyword or browse through the topic categories - for example, "Company & Industry" or "Finance."

Business libraries currently participating in this collaborative project include Penn, Columbia, Dartmouth, Michigan, MIT, Stanford, Wisconsin, NYU, Duke, Boston U, Michigan State, Tulane, Princeton, Purdue, Yale, and, Washington. It's still a work in progress but we think people will find it useful. If you have comments or suggestions, please send them to me or balib@u.washington.edu.
