  • EIU Online:   This database, provided by the Economist Intelligence Unit, provides online access to:

  • Gale Virtual Reference Library:   Online encyclopedias, almanacs, and specialized reference sources for multidisciplinary research. See the Encyclopedia of Global Industries, under Business; see Countries and Their Cultures, and Worldmark Encyclopedia of National Economies, under Nation and World.

  • Kompass:   Directory information for two million companies in over seventy countries and seven regions, with indexes for company products and services, containing 23 million product and service references.

  • MarketResearch.com Academic:   Market research reports covering many different industries, countries, and market sectors.

Web Resources:

  • American Chambers of Commerce Abroad:   There are currently 105 American chambers of commerce in 91 countries, affiliated with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. These chambers often have useful information on doing business in their country.

  • CIA World Factbook:   These brief country profiles offer information about government, economy, GDP, CPI, labor force, unemployment rate, budget, industries, agriculture, export, import, telecommunications, debt, foreign aid for more than two hundred and fifty countries.

  • NationMaster.Com:   Graphic rankings, lists and interactive comparisons for countries' crime, economy, education, energy, environment, geography, government, health, media, military, people, religion, sports, and transportation.

  • U.S. Embassies:   The U.S.State Department has embassies and consulates in 140 countries, providing valuable local information for business, usually under the heading of the U.S. Commercial Service.
