COMMUNICATIONS/MARKETING

DISCOVERY TO DELIVERY

Meet user needs by providing access to resources and services at the point of need and in the users’ environments (III.A.). Implement improvements that enhance and more fully integrate resource discovery, linking, and content delivery of our information resources (4.B.).

III.A.1. Build or integrate new tools and services for information discovery and delivery.

III.A.2. Refocus emphasis from our portals to pushing our offerings into the user's information environment. (See also III.A.2. a. to d., III.A.4)

IV.B.3 . Implement MARC serial holdings as a way to improve linking from external discovery tools to available content, and to streamline our ILL fulfillment processes.

SUPPORT FOR UW RESEARCH INFRASTRUCTURE AND MULTIDISCIPLINARY ACTIVITIES Enhance and strengthen support for interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary teaching and research (3.C.) Kick-Off Group: Neil Rambo, Judith Henchy, Anne Lally, Gary Menges, Zhijia Shen, Judy Tsou, Anjanette Young, Anne Zald

III.B.3. Enhance and strengthen the Libraries support for UW’s scientific research infrastructure (e-science, e-research, data curation, open data, institutional repositories, large datasets)

IV.A.2 Establish and develop an ongoing program for digital library development and digitization of local resources, (including public domain materials from our collections) that pursues and takes advantage of collaboration opportunities

IV.A.3. Conduct a UW-wide data inventory (2007), and determine local strategy for archiving datasets and databases (2008-10), and making them accessible on a long-term basis.

III.B.2 . Develop an international programs plan to support UW Global Affairs and other global initiatives

 

UNDERGRADUATE SERVICES

III.C.1. Prepare students for lifelong learning by promoting critical inquiry and information literacy
